Text to SRT converter
Turn a script or transcript into an SRT subtitle draft. Each non-empty line becomes one cue. Set the timing below, then check it against your recording.
Estimated timing only. This tool does not listen to audio, transcribe video or synchronize speech.
Up to 100,000 characters, 1,000 non-empty lines and 500 characters per line. Use short lines that fit your video.
Optional: wraps at spaces around 80 characters, keeping existing non-empty lines separate. Long words stay intact. Review phrasing and timing before publishing.
Text processing happens in this browser. Your input text and file contents are not uploaded by this converter.
How to turn text into an SRT subtitle file
- Paste your script or open a UTF-8 TXT file. Put each intended subtitle on a separate line; blank lines are ignored.
- Choose a fixed duration for each cue, the gap and a start offset. Generate a preview and inspect the numbered timestamps.
- Download the SRT draft. Import it into your subtitle editor and adjust every cue against the actual audio before publishing.
Before using your subtitle draft
Will these subtitles match my video automatically?
No. Timing is calculated from your settings, not from audio. A four-second cue lasts four seconds regardless of the spoken words. You must review and adjust synchronization.
Can I convert EPUB, PDF or video here?
This tool accepts plain text and UTF-8 TXT only. It does not extract speech, remove DRM or convert an ebook into synchronized captions.
What if my transcript already has timestamps?
Use a format converter for an existing SRT or VTT. Pasting it here would treat timestamp lines as caption text and create new estimated times.
Is generating an SRT free?
Yes, this local conversion requires no account or credits. Translation is a separate service with its own available trial and credit estimate.
Need another language after synchronizing?
Keep the reviewed SRT, then upload it to the subtitle translator. Translation uses the timestamps in your file; it does not repair draft synchronization.
