ASS to SRT converter
Choose a UTF-8 .ass file. Conversion stays in this browser. Video, audio and embedded subtitle tracks are not accepted.
File contents, names and cue counts are not sent to analytics. Optional anonymous usage events respect the site’s privacy settings.
How to convert ASS to SRT
01
Open your ASS file
Use the subtitle file itself, saved as UTF-8. You can try the self-authored example before choosing a file.
02
Check the result
Review plain text, style-loss notes and overlapping cues. Timing values and cue order are retained.
03
Download SRT or translate
Save the converted file and test it with your video. If you need a different language, choose the separate translation step.
Before using the converted file
Will the subtitle text be translated?
No. Conversion changes the file format. Language translation is a separate service that you start explicitly after reviewing the converted file.
Will fonts, colors and positions survive?
This converter accepts UTF-8 ASS dialogue. Fonts, colors, positions, animation, comments and attachments are not exported. Drawing and karaoke commands are rejected rather than silently turned into broken text.
Does this fix subtitles that are out of sync?
No. Start and end times are checked against the source. Existing overlaps and synchronization problems remain; use a subtitle editor with your video to correct them.
Are my subtitles uploaded?
Choosing a file, converting and downloading happen in this browser. The file is uploaded only if you explicitly choose “Upload converted file for translation”. File content is not saved in browser storage.
Will this work with every player or upload platform?
No universal compatibility is promised. These are plain-text exports. Test the file in your destination player and check that platform’s current requirements.
